A summer staff position at ETBE is more than just a job, it's a calling. When else will you have the opportunity to touch the lives of more than 3,500 people in just 13 weeks? Where else will you get to experience living and working along side 20 passionate Christians, who although different, share the same goal? How many other chances will you have to work in an environment where life-long friendships will be forged and the opportunity for unrivaled spiritual growth will be available? Why would you pass up what could be a life changing summer!
But…working at ETBE is very hard work. This isn't an out-in-front ministry that provides a lot of recognition from others. Working at ETBE is a behind-the-scenes plunging, scrubbing, cooking, scraping, mowing, sweeping, and mopping labor of love. You will be asked to work long arduous hours, you will be asked to slave away in the hot sun, and you will be asked to serve every camper with the love of Christ. We provide the day-to-day essentials to make camp run as smoothly and distraction free as possible; ETBE does not hire counselors. This may not seem like a very
glamorous way to spend a summer, but it is just as vital to the glory and growth of the Kingdom.
Everyone that is hired for the summer will have a specific area of expertise (life guarding, ropes course, kitchen, maintenance, etc.). We have also found it is in your's and the camp's best interest to make sure that you are experienced in as many areas of the ministry as possible. This will cut back
on monotony and allow us to plug in people in different areas when others are unavailable. All staffers participate in meal service and clean-up as well as the clean-up of dorms on the last day of each camp.
We hire a wide range of staffers starting at the age of 16. We tend to hire more staffers from the college age demographic because experience has taught us that some high-school students aren't
ready for the hard work and freedom that ETBE presents. For those younger applicants who might
not be quite ready to work a full summer at ETBE we offer our Servant Heart program. Servant Heart allows you to volunteer for a week and get a real taste of what working at ETBE is all about. Those students who successfully complete the Servant Heart program have a much greater likelihood of getting hired the following summer. If you apply and are not hired this summer, please re-apply for
the following summer. We have a small staff, but many quality applicants. A summer staff position
at ETBE is both an honor and a challenge.
All prospective staffers must at least volunteer a weekend before they can be considered for hire.
We want you to really understand what the ministry is all about and see if ETBE is the place for you. Please be in prayer as you decide whether or not to pursue a position at ETBE this summer and make sure that God is at the center of any decision you make. We are excited to see the staff that God will have us select for the summer and anticipate the great things He has in store.
